DonateASkill
Launched a scalable volunteer-matching platform for high-skill professionals and nonprofits.

PROJECT SNAPSHOT
DonateASkill is a nonprofit technology initiative connecting skilled volunteers with mission-driven organisations. The project was delivered in Q2 2024. Within twelve weeks, we launched a robust platform that now enables seamless matching between nonprofits and skilled volunteers. The live platform is accessible at donateaskill.org.
THE CHALLENGE
DonateASkill’s founding team saw a clear gap: talented volunteers wanted to help, but most nonprofits lacked a fast, structured way to connect and manage support. Many of the team members had personal ties to grassroots nonprofits in the US and wanted to create a channel for those communities to tap into the collective skills and potential of their networks. The old workflow relied on spreadsheets and manual email, leading to slow onboarding and project delays. For every successful match, several promising opportunities slipped through the cracks. The team approached Converge Labs because they needed a technology partner who could build a system that removed bottlenecks and supported rapid scaling—something their in-house resources could not achieve.

THE PARTNERSHIP
Collaboration began with a discovery phase, including hands-on workshops and strategy sessions with the DonateASkill team. We listened closely to the day-to-day friction points and mapped the complete user journey, working directly with Pinkesh to prioritise which features would move the needle for both volunteers and nonprofits. Our shared goal was clarity and speed, so we scoped the minimum viable product around those essentials, keeping everyone focused and feedback-driven from the start.
THE BUILD
We delivered a platform for DonateASkill.org that enables nonprofit communities to exchange skills, manage bookings, and handle payments within a secure, closed environment. Members access an organised marketplace to list and book services, supported by a credit system that encourages engagement. Administrators gain clear oversight with dedicated tools for member management, service approvals, and real-time tracking of transactions and donations. The experience is designed for ease of use, with integrated chat, notifications, and a transparent flow of funds between members and the organisation. Every element works together to strengthen community ties and streamline fundraising.
Today, DonateASkill is live and scaling. The platform is managed by the client’s team, who now handle daily operations and ongoing improvements. Adoption continues to grow, with new nonprofits joining weekly and the roadmap expanding to include new features and feedback-driven upgrades. The platform is available at donateaskill.org.
